In order to protest against the diluted Basel Convention activists of the international environmental group Greenpeace roped down and hanged a banner at a multistory building across the congress center Plaza.
Despite signing the UN convention as a control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes the problem is not solved. Because the wastes exports were not banned thereby but only regularized.
