Shoot: Fukushima and Chernobyl Commemoration with Wind Turbine Sign in Budapest
GP0STPO28
As the nuclear disasters of Fukushima and Chernobyl ruined the life of millions, Greenpeace Hungary called attention to the legacies of the catastrophes and called for a change.
An ionizing radiation symbol with solar lamps is displayed, and then gradually transforms into a wind turbine sign to symbolise that a safe and sustainable future is only provided by renewables.
The signs are placed on Heroes' Square, one of the most prominent squares in downtown Budapest.
With the action, Greenpeace also calls attention to the dangers of the already functioning nuclear reactors (Paks I) in Hungary and warns against the risks of the planned extension of the nuclear power plant (Paks II), which would put an enormous burden on future generations.
