Greenpeace places posters against product returns to Amazon in Hamburg's public advertising places like advertising columns and stations. The posters read: "Don´t be a # Returner" (in German). Greenpeace protests against overconsumption and new goods being destroyed after they are returned by customers to the online retail giant Amazon.com.
Around a third of what online customers send back does not go straight back to retail. Amazon destroys returned products on a large scale: insiders report that the company scraps new products worth tens of thousands of euros a day.
The online retail giant must present a plausible plan for how it will prevent the destruction of new and usable goods in the future.
