Shoot: 'Scarecrows' Highlight the Consequences of Livestock Production in Denmark
GP0STUTCM
Danish 'Scarecrows' protest in Copenhagen against the loss of jobs in the 'bird scaring industry'. Greenpeace Nordic activists dressed as scarecrows are highlighting that Denmark holds the world record for the highest pork production per capita, currently averaging a whopping 33 million pigs per year.
As a consequence, half of Denmark, 80% of all Danish farmland, comprises vast crop fields to produce maximum yields of animal feed. The immense demand for livestock feed is forcing nature and wild animals into decline. While the Danish government is refusing to reduce the livestock production, Greenpeace is asking to significantly reduce this to take the needed climate action and to give back space to nature, forest and birds.
