Castor Radiation Measurement in Germany

Greenpeace nuclear experts carry out radiation measurements near the Castor train railway line, only meters away from residential housing. The nuclear transport is bound for intermediate nuclear waste storage camp in Gorleben, Germany. The CASTOR (Cask for Storage and Transport of Radioactive material) is a train convoy carrying eleven 100-tonne containers of radioactive waste. Measurements of these containers show that the radioactivity in each one is higher than what was released at Chernobyl in 1986 - this makes the CASTOR transport effectively a Chernobyl on wheels.
