The message reads "Dijksma, red de Noordzee!” (which translates in English to: "Dijksma, save the North Sea!"). It is addressed to Sharon Dijksma, the State Secretary of Economic Affairs, who is responsible for fishery as well as the protection of Dutch nature, including the Dutch North Sea. Mrs Dijksma also has a brief conversation with the activists and the celebrities.Zeven Zeeën Campagne GreenpeaceAmsterdam, 26 mei 2015 Greenpeace legt vanochtend 54.780 kiezelstenen op de stoep van staatssecretaris Dijksma bij het ministerie van Economische Zaken. Ze vormen de boodschap: "Dijksma: Red de Noordzee!" De stenen staan voor het aantal Nederlanders dat de afgelopen weken het Manifest der Zeven Zeeën heeft getekend: een pleidooi voor de bescherming van natuurgebieden in zee tegen alle vormen van visserij. De staatssecretaris gaat in gesprek met de actievoerders. De Noordzee is in een mensenleven verschraald tot een treurig stemmende monocultuur, waar slechts enkele commerciële vissoorten als de schol in grote aantallen voorkomen. Zestig procent van de biodiversiteit is er de laatste eeuw uit verdwenen volgens cijfers van het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving. Tachtig procent van de bodem is beschadigd door sleepnetvisserij. Onder de Greenpeace-actievoerders vandaag zijn ook snowboardster Nicolien Sauerbreij, acteur Daniël Boissevain en presentator Patrick Martens. Zij en anderen streden de afgelopen maanden in het BNN-programma De Zeven Zeeën om de titel "Beste actievoerder op zee". Martens won gisteren.
