The six yachts in the flotilla left Auckland, Kaikoura, Wellington and the Bay of Islands earlier this week. They will meet about 110 nautical miles west of Raglan where Anadarko is about to start exploratory oil drilling. At events in 265 cities in 43 countries thousands of people take part in a day of solidarity to mark two months since the Arctic 30 were detained following a peaceful protest against Arctic oil drilling on September 18. A Russian court has charged the Arctic 30 (twenty-eight Greenpeace International activists, as well as a freelance videographer and photographer) with both piracy and hooliganism.Locations:Aotearoa-OceaniaDate:16 Nov, 2013Credit:© Pascale Otis / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5184px X 3456pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Activists-Anadarko-Arctic 30 (campaign title)-Banners-Chief executive officers (CEO)-Court cases-Day-Flotillas-Gazprom-Greenpeace staff-High angle view-KWCI (GPI)-Law-Medium group of people-Oceans (topography)-Offshore drilling-Oil (Industry)-Oil drilling-Outdoors-Russian Government-Sailboats-Save the Arctic (campaign title)-SunnyShoot:Oil Free Seas Flotilla in New ZealandThe Oil Free Seas Flotilla meets at the drillsite. The six yachts in the flotilla left Auckland, Kaikoura, Wellington and the Bay of Islands earlier that week. They are meeting about 110 nautical miles west of Raglan where Anadarko is about to start exploratory oil drilling. The flotilla is a coalition of individuals and boat owners who oppose deep-sea drilling and the new legislation that takes away New Zealanders long-standing right to peacefully protest at sea.
