Action against Herakles Farms in Paris
Greenpeace activists install a mock 'deforested' area in Paris as part of the mobilisation against Herakles Farms palm oil plantation plan in Cameroon. They display a 6 meters wide sign covered with 1500 cards. On the cards, the public is invited to write a message of support to the local opposition and denounce the social and environmental crime. People hold banners reading 'Stop Herakles Farms' , "Zero Deforestation" and "I support the local people of Cameroon." Herakles is pushing ahead with its plans for a huge palm oil plantation with complete disregard for the opposition of local people, who fear they will lose their farms and their livelihoods to the US-based corporation. That plan will destroy more than 180 000 acres of ancient forest.
