Airship Protests Duke Energy in Wilmington
The Greenpeace Airship flies over Wilmington near the Atlantic Ocean with banners calling out Duke Energy for its dirty coal plants and investment in nuclear energy rather than clean, renewable energy sources. Duke has asked for a rate hike to saddle consumers with the costs of expanding coal power plants in North Carolina. Greenpeace issued a report July 25 giving Duke a roadmap to saving millions of dollars while transitioning to clean, renewable energy. Greenpeace will be flying the airship in a series of events across North Carolina.
