Automotive Industry Workers Interview for DriveChange Campaign in Seoul
Greenpeace EA’s (Seoul office) “DriveChange" campaign team, met with three automobile industry workers and conducted interviews. Mr. Kim Sung-ki (Hyundai Motors division of Korea Metal Workers' Union, General Manager of propaganda and public relations), Ms. Kim Eun-joo (Hyundai Motors division of Korea Metal Workers' Union, General Manager of the Women and culture), and Mr. Cho Chul-yeon, a researcher at an electric vehicle charging company (Pumpkin EV). They talked about the climate crisis and changes in the industry.
In a message to their most precious beings (family members), in a time of climate crisis, they told the government, companies and audience about the importance of phasing out ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles and the need for Just Transition. Just Transition means moving to a more sustainable economy, from the oil industry to the renewables industry, in a way that is fair to everyone, including the workers in polluting industries.
