The activists are using stickers and banners to remind whoever is on the streets that Kenya is not for sale, and that the president must act to not accept the absurd proposal from the American Chemistry Council to export 500 tons of plastic waste to our country. We believe in people power and action.Messages read "Uhuru don't sell Kenya as the plastic dumpster to the USA" and "We need a plastic free country".Locations:Africa-KenyaDate:24 Nov, 2021Credit:© Paul Basweti / GreenpeaceMaximum size:4686px X 3324pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Banners-Break Free from Plastics (campaign title)-Day-Greenpeace activists-KWCI (GPI)-Litter-Outdoors-Plastics-Pollution-Rubbish-Waste managementShoot:Black Friday Plastic Action in KenyaThe American Chemistry Council has been lobbying the US government to use the US-Kenya trade deal to send their plastic waste to Kenya, more plastic waste in the US will mean more plastic waste in Kenya. Why does Kenya need to become a dumping ground for plastics that arent good enough for the US and other countries? The group lobbying for this absurdity has Shell, Exxon, and Total among its members. This is the final lifeline of fossil fuel industries. By making you consume more plastic, they can drill for more oil. If President Uhuru Kenyatta sells out Kenya, the gains that the Kenya single-use ban has achieved will be threatened. Greenpeace Africa is campaigning to pressure President Uhuru to say no to them.Related Collections:Plastic Pollution in Africa (All Photos & Videos)
