Brent Spar Oil Platform Dismantling in Norway
Brent Spar is dismantled after three year process with protests by Greenpeace against the dumping of the installation in North Atlantic Ocean in 1995. During the protests Shell gave up its dumping plans and started a long consultation and decision making process which resulted in a solution for re-use and recycling. At the OSPAR conference environmental ministers of Europe banned the dumping of oil and gas installations onshore.
