Broad-winged Hawk in Canadian Boreal Forest
Broad-winged hawk (Buteo platypterus).
These raptors breed in a large section of North America, but congregate in groups as large as thousands to migrate to Central and South America. While hunting, they rest on perches, trying to spy out small animals that they can swoop down upon. Forest fragmentation is leading to a decline of its population in some areas.
