Rainbow Warrior Relief Tour in Vanuatu
The Rainbow Warrior is in Vanuatu to help deliver relief to outlying islands. After Cyclone Pam devastated Vanuatu in the Pacific in March, 75,000 people have been left in dire need of emergency shelter and other goods to restore their lives and homes. There are ongoing tireless efforts from many different organizations, through the National Disaster Management Office, who have been working hard to provide relief to Vanuatu and its people. One of the major logistical hurdles that the aid agencies are facing, is the collection and distribution of goods throughout the islands.
Extreme weather events, such as Cyclone Pam, threaten to become the new normal for Pacific island states as the global climate changes, underscoring the urgency to cut global emissions to avert a climate crisis.
