The egg laying hen factory farm of Lescout, located a few hundred meters away from the village, is the only industrial facility for animal agriculture of the area and is currently farming 185,000 hens. First built in the 1980s, it steadily grew and was expanded in 2016 to the modern and highly industrial facility it is today. At the time of the visit of Greenpeace France in the area, locals mentioned that the fog disguised not only the landscape, but also the smell coming from the farm. This smell is a constant in the daily lives of the 700 inhabitants of Lescout. Only 700 people live in the village. The quantity of hens in the factory farm outnumbers the population of the village by 264 times.Locations:Europe-France-Lescout-OccitanieDate:11 Dec, 2018Credit:© Greenpeace / Wildlight / Selene MagnoliaMaximum size:5136px X 3852pxKeywords:Agriculture-Air pollution-Bridges-Chickens-Factory Farming-Fog-KWCI (GPI)-Meat-Meat and Dairy (campaign title)-Morning-Outdoors-WaterShoot:Hen Factory Farm in FranceThe egg laying hen factory farm of Lescout, Gallès, located a few hundred meters away from the village, is the only industrial facility for animal agriculture of the area and is currently farming 185,000 hens.
