Daka, a Danish company partly owned by Danish Crown, collects the dead animals once a week. The company produces feed for pets and biofuels out of organic waste products. Until collection day the neighbours often see dead pigs outside the farms. This photo shows dead piglets in a broken garbage container outside Vandvaerksgaarden in Tingerup. There are similar containers filled with bodies beside this one, but they all have intact lids. The neighbours of the factory farms in the area have dozens of pictures showing dead pigs in the roadside, which they have presented to Greenpeace Nordic in Denmark.Locations:Denmark-Europe-TingerupDate:15 Mar, 2019Credit:© Greenpeace / Wildlight / Selene MagnoliaMaximum size:4828px X 3621pxKeywords:Agricultural structures-Agriculture-Air pollution-Containers-Day-Death-Factory Farming-KWCI (GPI)-Meat-Meat and Dairy (campaign title)-Outdoors-Pigs-Waste disposalShoot:Pig Factory Farms in DenmarkDenmark produces more than 31 million pigs annually, which, together with the annual production of 1.5 million cattles, makes up 19 percent of Denmark’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Inside the walls of industrial farms, animals’ existence are reduced to short lives inside small booths or cages. Besides its effect on the climate, meat production in Denmark further has a negative impact on the local environment, landscape, biodiversity and public health.Greenpeace Nordic in Denmark demands a reduction in the number of pigs and cattles produced by the meat industry in Denmark. The decrease in amount of agricultural land used for production of animal feed should simultaneously give space to more nature, forest and production of organic, plant-based crops. Furthermore, the public system has to contribute to a transition of the consumption of less meat and more green foods.Related Collections:Factory Farms in Europe - Full SelectionFactory Farms in Europe - Tight Edit
