Flight over the Tapajos River in the Brazilian Amazon Region
Flight over the Tapajos River in the Brazilian Amazon region with the new Greenpeace seaplane, a Cessna 208 with ten seats.
For generations, the Munduruku have lived in the Sawré Muybu, a territory of 178.000 hectares near the Tapajos River in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. For more than 30 years, the Munduruku have protested against construction of hydropower dams on the Tapajos River to protect their livelihood and their culture.

Seit Generationen leben die Munduruku in Sawré Muybu, einem Gebiet von 178.000 Hektar Flaeche in der Naehe des Tapajos-Flusses im Herzen des Amazonas-Regenwalds. Seit mehr als 30 Jahren kaempfen die Munduruku gegen Staudaemme am Tapajos Fluss und somit um ihre Existenz, ihre Kultur und um ihren natuerlichen Lebensraum.

Greenpeace is supporting the Munduruku there to symbolically demarcate their land. Their land, livelihoods and the surrounding forests could be destroyed, if plans to build many dams on the Tapajós become reality
