The locals refer to this mountain as the “Big Snow Mountain”; it’s also known locally as “Inner Mongolia’s Mount Fuji”. The piercing cold wind constantly blows on the mountain top, and the temperature is very low in winter, reaching minus fifty or sixty degrees. The rangers, who are responsible for preventing forest fires, reside in small houses on the mountain during April to October every year. The conditions are very harsh here. They have to retrieve the water from a small lake halfway up the mountain, and all supplies need to be carried up to the houses by manpower from the foot of the mountain. ©肖诗白/Greenpeace绿色和平Locations:China-East Asia-Inner MongoliaDate:21 Sep, 2016Credit:© Shi bai Xiao / GreenpeaceMaximum size:6048px X 4032pxKeywords:Day-Forests (campaign title)-Houses-Huts-Indigenous People-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Men-One person-Outdoors-Solar panelsShoot:Intact Forest Landscapes on Greater Khingan Mountains in ChinaOn Greater Khingan Mountains, in the northeast of China, is the biggest area of natural Bright coniferous forest.
