Activists in canoes hold up a banner that reads: "Laat de oerbossen niet branden" which translates into: "Don't let ancient forests burn". In Indonesia and Brazil irreplaceable forests are being burned to the ground to make place for agriculture and cattle. The Dutch government is also to blame for the destruction of ancient forests, and with that for the increasing CO2 emissions and disappearing habitats of endangered species. The Netherlands unlimited imports products originating from these places like palm oil, meat and wood. In the past decade more than 3,7 million acres of ancient forest went up in flames only for Dutch products.
