Freedom Island is an artificial island which was formed between 1973 and 1985. The island is an ecotourism area and contains a mangrove forest and swamps providing a habitat for many migratory bird species from different countries such as China, Japan and Siberia. As part of the clean-up, the groups also conduct a waste audit to identify what type of plastic waste ends up in our oceans.Related Collections:Plastics in Oceans (All Photos & Videos)Manila Plastics Project: Plastic Pollution in Pasig River, Freedom Island and Cavite, Philippines (Photos & Videos)
