Activists dressed as Tony Blair and Bill Clinton dance in front of the UN office in Vienna to the sounds of the Danube Walzer. Their weird dance partners are a maize-monster and a fish tomato (an interbreeding of fish and tomato). After the dance the two statesmen went asleep with the genetically mutilated creatures. The banners read "Stop GMOs! Locations:Alpine Countries-Austria-Europe-ViennaDate:15 Sep, 1999Credit:© Greenpeace / Waltraud GeierMaximum size:3692px X 2534pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Banners-Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)-Day-Effigies-Genetic engineering-Greenpeace activists-KWCI (GPI)-Meetings-Outdoors-Political leaders-SAGE (campaign title)-Street theatre actions-Theatrical costumes-Three people-United Nations (UN)Shoot:GE Protest at Biosafety Protocol in ViennaGreenpeace protest against genetic engineering at the opening of the Biosafety Protocol negotiations in front the United Nations building in Vienna. With this action Greenpeace wants to indicate, that the biosafety proceedings concern international rules for the worldwide protection of such GM creatures. The biodiversity convention should bring up a protection against GMOs (genetically mutilated organisms) – a sort of world - genetic engineering – law. Clinton as well as Blair contributed in the past significant to a failure of such worldwide settlements.
