Giant Whale in Feminist March in Santiago
To honor International Women's Day, the women of Greenpeace Chile joined thousands of women in the march of Santiago, arriving at the Plaza de la Dignidad with a 9-meter-long life-size whale made 100% with recycled materials . The whale, an emblematic symbol of the environmental struggle, was accompanied by more than 200 employees, friends, members and activists of the environmental organization with the message: "The extractivist crisis is a feminist cause." As women, they explain in Greenpeace, we are giving voice to nature, which is like a mirror of what has happened to women throughout history. Just as women did not have a voice for a long time, nature also does not have a sympathetic and empathetic voice on the part of humanity”, they claim.
