Greenpeace Protest at Abrolhos Marine Reserve

Greenpeace activists hold an underwater banner to highlight the bio-diversity and climate threat posed by oil and gas exploitation in the area of Abrolhos Marine Reserve, off the coast of Bahia state. Oil drilling will have a devastating effect to the local marine biodiversity and will contribute to further global warming. With the message “President Lula: Save Abrolhos, Save the Climate”, Greenpeace demands that the Brazilian President sign a decree creating a protective buffer zone to protect the 95,000 squared kilometer’s Abrolhos marine reserve and help keep ocean’s ability to regulate the climate.
