Nuclear Waste Blockade in Cherbourg

Greenpeace activists block a train transporting nuclear waste to Cherbourg nuclear reprocessing plant. The shipment is due to be loaded onto the transport ship Kapitan Kuroptev with the destination of Russia. The activists chain themselves to the railway, at two locations en route to the fuel reprocessing facility. Another team of Greenpeace activists place a truck on the rails in the centre of Cherbourg, which is painted with the message “La Russie N’est Pas Une Poubelle! (Russia is not a Nuclear Dumping Ground!)” Greenpeace is calling for a moratorium on the export of nuclear waste.
