Ovenbird in Connecticut

Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapillus), Nehantic State Forest, Lyme, Connecticut.
These territorial birds forage in the undergrowth of forests for insects, worms, spiders and snails. Their name comes from the dome nests that they weave, which are said to be reminiscent of dutch ovens. These birds migrate from forests across Canada and the Eastern United States to the Caribbean, Central and South America A small number of these birds appear to have migrated across the Atlantic, with sightings in Norway, Ireland and Britain.
