Greenpeace is researching the current condition of the sea bed and marine life of the Dutch North Sea. According to the organization the Cleaver Bank has the highest biodiversity in the Dutch North Sea but has been seriously damaged by many years of intensive fishingIn original language:Portret van Pavel Klinckhamers, Campagneleider OceanenEen close up van Pavel Klinckhamers, campagneleider oceanen van Greenpeace. Locations:Cleaver Bank-North Sea-Western EuropeDate:4 May, 2015Credit:© Kick Stokvis / GreenpeaceMaximum size:3726px X 2488pxKeywords:Close ups-Day-Greenpeace campaigners-Happiness-KWCI (GPI)-Men-One person-Portraits-Positive mood-Seas-Side view-WaterShoot:Building Fish Paradise in the North SeaAs part of the Oceans campaign "Seven Seas", Greenpeace investigates the flora and fauna at the bottom of the Cleaver Bank in the Dutch part of the North Sea. Based on the mv Arctic Sunrise divers of the organization chart the biodiversity of the sea beds, showing the rich variety of the flora and fauna in this area. In the second part of the campaign a number of giant stones will be placed on the bottom of the sea, the kind of stones which are originally already found in the area. They are very useful because many plants and small marine animals find a habitat between and upon the stones. The “fish paradise" created in this way will help restore nature at the Cleaver Bank after decennia of destruction by bottom trawling. It is the second time that Greenpeace places stones at the Cleaver Bank. The first time was in 2011.
