Petermann Glacier in Greenland
A section of the Petermann glacier in Greenland, photographed by the 'heli-cam' -a remote camera attached to a small single engine helicopter, triggered from inside the cockpit by remote control. The camera is connected to a portable GPS and all files are embedded with GPS data concerning position and height at the time of exposure. The helicopter is being launched from a small helipad on the stern deck of the Greenpeace ship, the Arctic Sunrise.

Glaciology Research in Western Greenland
In summer 2009, the MY Arctic Sunrise sails to the Arctic to document the dire effects climate change has on one of the most fragile environments in the world. Independent scientists use the ship, helicopter, boats and assistance of the crew, to collect data and research the impacts of climate change. During this first section of the three-part tour, scientists conduct important glaciology research on Petermann and Humboldt glaciers in Western Greenland.
