Pier in the Riverfront of the Amazon River in Amapá State
The coast of Amapá state, in the extreme north of Brazil, is in the crosshairs of the international oil industry. The site brings together various biomes such as tropical forests and mangroves, and an important biome still little known to science, the Reef of the Mouth of the Amazon River, newly discovered and already threatened by oil exploration.
