Scenic View of Ladoga Skerries in Karelia, Russia
On December 28, 2017 the Russian Government signed a decree for the establishment of the Ladoga Skerries National Park, one of the largest protected national parks in the whole of Europe. The work to protect this unique natural area has been going on for 27 years and, finally, resulted in victory.
Greenpeace Russia has helped with the process with investigation work, by promoting the inclusion of valuable territories in the park boundaries and by searching and studying species which are included in the IUCN Red List of threatened species.

Greenpeace Russia helped with the process. Greenpeace investigated and promoted the inclusion of valuable territories in the park boundaries, searched for and studied species, which are included in the IUCN Red List of threatened species.
It also negotiated with loggers; advocated for the creation of these reserve areas, fought with fires and illegal logging.
