Kirk Sato of the USA, biologist from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, examines samples taken from the seafloor in the Pribilof Canyon by a submersible craft. The Greenpeace ship Esperanza is on an Arctic expedition to study unexplored ocean habitats in the Bering and Chukchi Seas threatened by offshore oil drilling, as well as industrial fishing fleets.
