In April and May 2011, the flotilla engaged with and successfully disrupted a seismic survey the company was running at the time. It was during this engagement that Elvis Teddy, the skipper of a te Whanau a Apanui-owned fishing boat, was arrested. On 26 July, 2012, he was acquitted on the charges relating to his arrest.
