Submersible Operations in the Bering Sea
Pilots Shannon Lo Ricco (L) of Australia and John Hocevar of the USA get ready for their first dive in a two-seater submersible craft, on loan from the Waitt Institute. The submersible will explore the deep sea canyons of the Bering Sea near Alaska. The Greenpeace ship Esperanza is on an Arctic expedition to study unexplored ocean habitats threatened by offshore oil drilling, as well as industrial fishing fleets.
