The Maranchon Wind Farm is the largest in Europe with 104 generators, and is operated by Iberdrola, the largest wind energy company in the world. The "Maranchon Complex", as it is called, actually consists of seven smaller wind parks with a total capacity of 208 MW. This is enough annual power for 590,000 people. The farm annually produces the equivalent electricity of 100,000 tons of oil, thereby eliminating 430,000 tons of CO2. The Gamesa G-87's wind turbines stand between 220-256 feet high with a propeller circumference of 285 feet, and each produces 2 megawatts. Maranchon Wind Farm cost $300 million to build and opened in 2006.
