Respini, Dow Chef Europa, empfangen. Locations:Alpine Countries-Horgen-SwitzerlandDate:21 Oct, 2002Credit:© Greenpeace / Ex-Press / David AdairMaximum size:2160px X 1440pxRestrictions:Images ok for use in all Greenpeace campaigns, products and brochures. They want to speak with Dow employees and Dow Europe President, Luciano Respini. The delegation will present their demands: the total clean up of the contaminated site in Bhopal, medical and financial compensation for the survivors of the disaster, guaranteed long-term medical care and clean drinking water for all affected people. After waiting for four days in front of the Dow headquarters in Horgen, two Bhopal survivors and two Greenpeace representatives meet Luciano Respini, president of Dow Europe. He had exactly five minutes time for them and denied any responsibility. Champadevi Shukla, a Bhopal survivor and Praney Sharma, a local activist, tried to explain the daily tragedy of Bhopal to him. They pointed out that Dow Chemical must exercise their legal and moral obligation to stop the suffering in Bhopal. Dow-Carbide bought Union Carbide in 2001 and has refused to bear any corporate liability for the gas disaster.
