Toxics Action at Hewlett Packard the Netherlands
Greenpeace activists visit the Hewlett Packard office in Amstelveen with action boards and a framed picture of a Greenpeace action in 2004 in front of the Hewlett Packard office in Utrecht. This picture is a gift to the board. The text reads: “Belofte maakt schuld” which translates to English as: “Keep your promise”.
The text on the boards and in the framed picture references to the promise the company has made to work towards a production process with less toxic elements in their computer. One of the toxics found in human blood, the brominated flame retardants (BFRs), is processed by HP in computers. Greenpeace states that a company, which keeps on using toxics and refuses to change to more clean alternatives, is irresponsible.
