Fermín, aged 54, is a livestock farmer. Felipe, 47 years old, agronomist, is a coordinator at “EHNE”.This image was taken at the EHNE office in Pamplona, where they discussed with Greenpeace Spain their vision and also their work, which includes resisting the intensive farming model. Fermín and Felipe are deeply proud of their local production and presented to Greenpeace Spain agricultural products from EHNE´s members. They strongly oppose the Valle de Odieta dairy factory farm and the general model that lies behind it. Felipe questions the industrial model: “It is much better to have 500 farms of 100 cows than one factory farm of 5,000. We do not support this concentration of wealth. We defend a more traditional model, another type of agricultural work.”Locations:Europe-Navarre-Pamplona-SpainDate:20 Feb, 2019Credit:© Greenpeace / Wildlight / Selene MagnoliaMaximum size:4389px X 3292pxKeywords:Activists-Agriculture-Air pollution-Dairy farming-Factory Farming-Farmers-Indoors-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Meat and Dairy (campaign title)-Men-Portraits-Traditional farming-Two people-VictimsShoot:Dairy Factory Farm in SpainThe dairy factory farm operating under the name “Valle de Odieta, S.C.L./Corraliza el Tomillar, S.Coop. and Hibridación Termosolar Navarra, S.L.” is located in the province of Navarre, Spain. It is the biggest dairy farm in the whole rural area of Navarre and one of the biggest in Spain. In the last 50 years there was a huge transformation in livestock production in Spain, from a traditional and extensive production to a very intensive and industrial production. This has a huge environmental impact. The intensive livestock farming has changed the shape of the landscape and the flora in the nearby fields. Green algae is visible on the water effluents from the farm, probably due to the high nutrient content on the manure being disposed. This nutrient pollution is likely to reach the Aragón River.Related Collections:Factory Farms in Europe - Full SelectionFactory Farms in Europe - Tight Edit
