Tree kangaroos live in lowland and mountainous rainforests in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the far north of Queensland, Australia. They have adapted to life in the trees, with shorter legs and stronger forelimbs for climbing, giving them somewhat of the appearance of a cross between a kangaroo and a lemur. Many tree kangaroo species are incredibly rare and most are decreasing in number.Locations:Australia-Melbourne-OceaniaDate:10 Sep, 2013Credit:© Greenpeace / Tom JeffersonMaximum size:2500px X 1667pxKeywords:Day-Deforestation-Endangered species-Forests (campaign title)-KWCI (GPI)-Outdoors-Tree kangaroos-ZoosShoot:Orangutan, Sumatran Tiger and Tree Kangaroo at Melbourne ZooImages of a tree kangaroo, a tiger and an orangutan at Melbourne zoo. The decline of these species' populations and other animals' in Indonesia has been driven by the destruction of their rainforest habitat, mainly due to the expansion of pulpwood and oil palm plantations.Related Collections:Indonesia Animal Collection (All Photographers)
