Warning signs close to Chernobyl sarcophagus indicate places with high levels of radioactivity. The world's worst nuclear catastrophe took place right here on Unit 4. Chernobyl nuclear power plant at 1:23 am, 26th April 1986. Scientists estimated that radioactive debris blew up to an altitude of 1 kilometer and contaminated a substantial part of Europe, mainly Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.

Hier im Block 4 ereignete sich der bisher schlimmste Atomunfall der Welt: um 1 Uhr 23 morgens am 26. April 1986. Wissenschaftler schaetzen, dass nukleare Truemmerpartikel bis zu einem Kilometer hoch geschleudert wurden und so einen wesentlichen Teil Europas verseuchten, insbesondere Weissrussland, Russland und die Ukraine.
