Coal Camp Lusatia Haidemuehl 2016 - News Access
09.05.2016: Haidemuehl / Brandenburg, Germany: aerial shots (drone shots) Haidemuehl and open cast mining Welzow South. 20 Greenpeace activists demonstrated for an exit from brown coal yesterday evening at the break-off edge of the open cast mining Welzow South I in the ghost village Haidemuehl. The climber activists unfolded a 200 square meter wide banner between the chimneys of a former glass factory reading: „#Keep it in The Ground“. Haidemuehl had to give way for the open cast mining Welzow South I and its citizens lost their home because of Vattenfall’s coal business. The activists demand from the government not to allow any further open cast mines and to decide a step by step phase-out of coal energy. Environmental activists from all over Europe were active in Lusatia today against the climate-killing coal. Greenpeace is participating in an international climate camp, where the political necessary coal exit is being discussed. A clear sign shall be set with diverse forms of protest at the Pentecost weekend against coal mining and for more climate protection.
