Donation of Supplies Used in Action in Brazil
Food and supplies that were used in the action were donated to non-governmental charity institutions in or near Manaus. CUFA Manaus got 300 food parcels, 1000 masks and 50 hygiene kits, that will provide for 180 families. The Beija-Flor Indigenous village got 150 food parcels, that will serve Tukano, Dessana, Tuyuka, Baré e Apurinã families. The Julião community, in the banks of Rio Negro, got 50 food parcels from Ação pela Vida. At the time when Brazil reaches 400 thousand lives lost to the Covid-19 virus, Greenpeace Brazil protests at the Meeting of Waters - the location where Rio Negro and Solimões River join to form the Amazon River - in Manaus, one of the cities that suffered the most from the crisis caused by the pandemic. The action is in honor of Covid-19 victims and their families, but it also demands that the government takes responsibility in fighting the disease.
To form the "400 thousand lives" message, measuring 14 x 92 meters, were used 18 tons of food, hygiene supplies, masks and oxygen cylinders.
