Visual Art for the Right to Water in Front of the Museum of Modern Art in Santiago
Greenpeace Andino, together with the visual artist Claudio Caiozzi, displays a work of 15 by 15 meters entitled Let’s let the water go, which seeks to warn about the situation of water crisis facing the country and the need to incorporate the issue of water in the writing of a new Constitution. The work shows the water freeing itself from the captors who have held it for a long time, under the watchful eye of angels and a Hindu divinity. “Water must be accessible to the entire population; their availability constitutes a basic human right and a key element for ecosystems”, says Estefanía González, Greenpeace campaign coordinator. The activity takes place within the framework of the Drop the Water campaign, which was signed by 100,000 people and has denounced some of those responsible for the lack of water in the central area of the country, such as the transnational mining company Anglo American.
