Hoadson Leonardo Silva at Workshop on Collecting Covid-19 Samples in the Amazon
Hoadson Leonardo Silva, coordinator of the Médio Purus Indigenist Missionary Council (Cimi).
On August 3rd and 4th, 2020, healthcare professionals from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) held workshops on collecting samples and reading Covid-19 laboratory test results in Lábrea, in the south of the Amazonas state. The attendees were Indigenous healthcare agents from the Caititu Indigenous Land (where the first villages are only a few minutes from the city) and healthcare agents from the Médio Rio Purus Special Indigenous Sanitary District. The initiative was brought by Indigenous and indigenist organizations with the goal of planning actions to help Indigenous Peoples fight the pandemic.
