Mato Grosso, Brazil. In 2020, fires in the Pantanal, the largest inland floodplain in the world, in central-western Brazil, reached more than 12% of the biome. Approximately 2,3 million hectares were consumed by the fire, with serious impacts on the region's wildlife.
