The Wings of Emergency (Asas da Emergência, in Portuguese) project already transported more than 27 tons of emergency help to more than 50 Indigenous Peoples living in the Brazilian Amazon. The main purpose is to reduce the impacts of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the communities where logistics are permanent challenges for the healthcare system.

By plane and boat, the aliance among Greenpeace, Indigenous institutions and several NGO has taken health professionals, medical equipments (like oxygen cilinders, energy generators, solar panels, medicine, surgical masks and gloves) and hygiene (soap, hand sanitizer) to Indigenous communities located in cities like São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Tabatinga, Lábrea and Itaituba. A very rigorous biological decontamination process is strictly followed to avoid any possibility of carrying the coronavirus to the Indigenous Peoples.
