Janet wants to become a leader in her community in order to amplify the voices of women, especially when it comes to climate disaster preparedness.

"Here in Vanuatu, we don’t contribute too much to climate change, most of us are not driving cars, and many do not use electricity, we contribute so little to the cause of climate change, but we suffer the effects of it. The impacts on us in Vanuatu are huge. I think the big emitting countries need to take action to reduce their contributions. They need to look to for ways to reduce their impact to ensure that they are not affecting us by their actions. The way that we see it, if they contribute a lot of emissions but then other countries bare the impacts of it, that is not fair! They should take action for change. "
