Contaminated playground in Iitoi
Radiation dose rate: Between 3-13 microsievert an hour / 38 to 163 times above normal. The normal rate before the Fukushima nuclear disaster was 0.08 microsieverts an hour.
Overgrown grass surrounds a panda and baby deer in the playground of Iitoi Elementary School, Iitate. The school has been empty since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, its students evacuated to protect them from the radioactive fallout that has now significantly contaminated their village and surrounding areas.
