Port authorities cut the mooring lines of the Rainbow Warrior on which activists are hanging off. Greenpeace is demanding the immediate closure on the proposed 1,434 MW coal fired power station in Map Ta Phut industrial estate in the Rayong province of Thailand. The activity is part of an international protest by Greenpeace against new coal power plants in South East Asia region and a direct message to the climate talks currently taking place in Montreal. Greenpeace is on a 10-week tour of Asia, stopping in a number of countries including Hong Kong, The Philippines and Thailand. The tour aims to alert people to the dangers of climate change and to expose its impacts.
