Tugboat tows Iceberg in the Arctic 1
The MY Esperanza with the 'Go Beyond Oil' banner and one of two large tugs towing an iceberg away from the Stena Forth drilling ship. This particular iceberg has been 30 miles away for the past week but after recent stormy weather it is within 5 miles and within Cairn Energy's safety zone of 25km. Cairn Energy's logistics operation around the 'iceberg alley' drill sites involves 8 ships that are constantly towing and melting icebergs by hosing to prevent any damage to the platforms. Greenpeace monitors Cairn's activities and urges governments to stop deepwater drilling for oil.

Esperanza Go Beyond Oil Expedition
Greenpeace 'Go Beyond Oil' ship tour, exposes and confronts the oil industry's race to develop deep sea drilling for oil in order to avoid environmental disasters like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Companies like BP are taking massive risks to drill in ever more dangerous places rather than investing in clean energy to stop climate change.
