Tugboat tows Iceberg in the Arctic 2
One of two large tugs towing an iceberg away from the Stena Forth drilling ship. This particular iceberg has been 30 miles away for the past week but after recent stormy weather it is within 5 miles and within Cairn Energy's safety zone of 25km. Cairn Energy's logistics operation around the 'iceberg alley' drill sites involves 8 ships that are constantly towing and melting icebergs by hosing to prevent any damage to the platforms. Greenpeace monitors Cairn's activities and urges governments to stop deepwater drilling for oil.
