Oil Free Seas Flotilla Blog of Skipper Daniel Mares
Co-skipper Daniel Mares talks about Vega’s long history of protest at sea – and they arrive at the rendezvous to be greeted by whales. The 'Oil Free Seas' flotilla meet about 110 nautical miles west of Raglan to protest against Anadarko and their plans to start exploratory oil drilling. The flotilla is a coalition of individuals and boat owners who oppose deep-sea drilling and the new legislation that takes away New Zealander's long-standing right to peacefully protest at sea.
